ORILLIA, ONTARIO (May 10, 2012) – Melanie Simmons is looking to be a strong competitor in this year’s Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts with her Toyrific Racing Top Dragster entry.
Last season her racing was for the most part a learning experience in her Mike Bos-built dragster, and this season Simmons is focusing on one thing – winning rounds and concentrating on a championship run in the 2012 season.
“This is a tough bunch of racers that compete in this series and if you can win in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series you can win anywhere,” said the Top Dragster driver.
No major changes to the Toyrific Racing team entry were made for 2012, apart from a few updates to make ensure things run smoothly. “We completely freshened the engine over the winter with Carl Spiering and Terry Vince at ERD (Engine Research & Development),” she said.

“We have all worked so hard to be ready for the season and I feel that I have a really safe and competitive car to work with, said Simmons. “The guys at G-Force Race Cars helped with making sure I fit properly in this car, Carl Spiering and his crew at ERD (Engine Research & Development) did a few upgrades to the supercharged powerplant, my Dad spent countless hours pulling everything together and Jon Salemi at Resolution Racing really made this upgrade possible for me.”

ORILLIA, ONTARIO (October 6, 2010) – Melanie Simmons and her Toyrific Racing Top Dragster had an impressive season in 2010, especially considering the major learning curve thrown her way during the Quick 32 Sportsman Series racing season.
Simmons, from Orillia, Ontario made the move to a supercharged engine in 2010 to afford her a better opportunity to qualify in the top half of the field for the increasingly competitive Quick 32 Sportsman Series events. After several DNQ’s (did not qualify) in the 2009 season, the Toyrific team benefited from the assistance of Carl Spiering and ERD (Engine Research & Development) to build a supercharged 540 cubic-inch Big Block Chevy to motivate the popular female driver. It was an instant gratification for Simmons dipping into the 6.80-second range at 196 mph on her first full pull.
