Racing heats up at Toronto Motorsports Park July 1-3
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 30, 2011) – Drag racing at its finest and in a variety of classes returns to the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park July 1-3.
The Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series will make their third appearance for 2011 at the track’s Canadian Nitro Nationals in Cayuga, Ontario.
A different winner has been declared in each race so far this year in all the drag race series and teams will be ready for the continuous racing action when they take to the Cayuga quarter-mile this weekend.
Leading the PMRA Pro Modifieds in the Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport is Vito Montesano with the slimmest of margins. Montesano, of Maple, Ontario has 581 points, while three-time PMRA champion Bruce Boland, of Hamilton, Ontario, who won the opening event, is next with 580 points. Third with 563 points is Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario, who won the previous event.

ORANGEVILLE, ONTARIO (June 22, 2011) – After two of six events in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series of drag racing, the Hinbest Racing Team has one car in third place and the other in 19th spot out of 38 teams in the popular series. Unfortunately in the second round of the Xtreme Mayhem Nationals at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park the team’s cars were matched up, and Mike Hinbest, the driver of the team’s six-second Top Dragster car took the win over the Top Dragster of Katie Ward.
“It has been three years since our team has been past a semi-final round, and the hard work and dedication of our crew is what makes this possible,” said team driver Mike Hinbest.

Sampson, Montesano,and Hope lead going into TMP’s Cayuga Dragway July 1-3 event
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 20, 2011) – Vito Montesano of the Pro Modified Racing Association, Phil Sampson of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series’ Randy Hope are ready to increase their respective leads in the three drag race series when they return to the track for round three at the Canadian Nitro Nationals July 1-3 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
Montesano, of Maple, Ontario, leads the PMRA Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport, followed by Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, and Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario. Round one in the PMRA Pro Modifieds went to Boland, and Latino won the second event.
Consistency and good starts give Darrin Grubb the win at Xtreme Mayhem Nationals at TMP’s Cayuga Dragway
Top Sportsman entry bests field in Quick 32 Sportsman Series action
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 15, 2011) – A strong consistent race car gave Darrin Grubb and the Grubb Racing Team a victory in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts event at TMP’s Cayuga Dragway June 10-12.
“This has been an awesome day,” noted Grubb, driver of the Top Sportsman 2004 Chevy Cavalier, after the race. “Everything worked perfect.”
Grubb eliminated Top Dragster driver Michael Hinbest in the final of the event with a 7.22-second, 194.86 mph run over Hinbest’s 6.361-second, 212.46 mph effort. Working with a Sportsman-style, dial-in race format, Grubb, from Pine River, Ontario, got a big jump on Hinbest of Orangeville, Ontario and his Bos Top Dragster in the final, and the supercharged dragster of Hinbest could not catch the Cavalier at the top end.
