PARIS, ONTARIO (June 22, 2010) – With the car back together and testing completed, Ben Grevers looks to make an impact in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts.

The Ontario-based Top Sportsman team named Tried and Convicted, has its sights set on moving up in the points standings after sitting out the first race of the year. The 1990 Chevy Camaro, driven by Grevers, is back together and ready to go rounds.

“We took the car to Grand Bend just for some testing and ended up in the finals of Top Sportsman” said Grevers. “The car was deadly consistent in the eighth mile so it’s ready to go rounds in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series”.

The team competed in a limited capacity in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series in 2009, but the team is confident it can make up this gap in points and be a force in this year’s Championship Point Award Series standings.

The 565-cubic inch Chevrolet Steve Schmidt motor with single stage nitrous was just freshened and reassembled by Jamie Groves of Woodstock. The BBC powers the RJ Race Cars chassis, with a Killer Glide transmission.

The team missed the opener of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series at Cayuga, Ontario last month, but Grevers said it might be a blessing in disguise.

“We could have rushed the car to get to the Cayuga race” Grevers said. “But we’d rather know that everything is safe and working good. Now there’s no pressure on us as we’re clearly an underdog in the points. This team is at its best when we’re counted out of the race”.

Crew chief for the team is Jason Howlett, and car owner is Brenda Grevers. Returning pit man Russ Cox is joined on the pit crew by free agent acquisition Bob Sackrider.

“Jason knows how to make the car work and make it consistent every single pass” Grevers noted. “Russ is a big help in the pits and picking up Bob Sackrider as a free agent is a major break for this team”.

Sponsor for the team is BG Enterprise with special thanks to K&K Racing, Wayne Sipos and Jamie Groves.

The Tried and Convicted team and the Camaro will be on hand for the next Quick 32 Sportsman Series event, the RPM Magazine Family PowerFest & Media Weekend to be held at the Grand Bend Motorplex June 25-27.
